Harrington's Reading List

What often separates Harrington Brands from other consulting firms is the humility that:

  1. We don’t believe we know everything

  2. Someone else probably figured this out before us

  3. How can we take what we learn and turn it into something others can learn

With that in mind, I'd like to share what we’re calling our “library.” As long as I can remember, my mother who owned her own consulting business, would come home weekly with stacks of books. She had a line item in her business just for books! Continuous learning was ever-present in our home. Even when I was young, I was never a big fan of novels unless school required it. Instead, I loved reading about businesses, larger-than-life-real-life CEOs and leaders, or about how I could improve a certain aspect of me with a new idea.

Instead of the newest best-selling novel, I would be reading Thomas Friedman’s The World Is Flat or Howard Schultz’s Onward or Jim Collins’ Good To Great! Even today, you might find me at a cafe, in my office, or even on a beach - pen in hand to highlight and make notes - with a good business book.

This library is a collection of the many books and years that I have spent studying and enjoying a healthy pursuit of excellence. I have put them into collections which include:

  • conflict resolution

  • creativity

  • culture

  • customer service

  • educational/learning theory

  • entrepreneurship

  • generations

  • management

  • marketing

  • nonprofit

  • organizational leadership

  • resilience

  • self improvement

  • team building

At the top of the page I wanted a quote that universally said what I think of when it comes to books and Harrington Brands; I believe Albert Einstein said it best: “I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.”

So, please enjoy and of course, if you have a recommendation please let us know! We’re always looking for the next great book to improve.
